THE SACRED WALK - The Final Week of Jesus

The Sacred Walk – The Final Week of Jesus.

Matthew 20:39-34; Luke 19:1-9; Mark 10:46

Jesus was busy on the Friday before Palm Sunday. Though there were several routes to Jerusalem, he took the road that passed through Jericho. We don’t know why but it is possible he took the detour to meet a man—the chief tax collector. Most tax collectors cheated the people out of more money than they owed for taxes so if he was chief, he was likely successful in his profession and hated. The man wanted to get a glimpse of the famous rabbi. He climbed a tree because he was too short to see over the crowd. Perhaps he thought he could hide there, but Jesus knew exactly where Zacchaeus was perched. Jesus called up to the man and invited himself to dinner.

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10).

On the way out of Jericho, Jesus heard two blind men shouting, “Have mercy on us.” Jesus asked the men the most powerful question, “What do you want me to do for you?” The two men were specific. “We want our sight.”

It’s the question we must answer . What do we want Jesus to do for us today? I long for strength and health. How would you answer Jesus’ question?

“Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him” (Matthew 20:34).

Friday was a busy day, then came Sabbath. He rested somewhere on the road around Bethphage and Bethany.

I challenge you to observe a Sabbath today. Take time today to slow down. Take a slow walk observing your surroundings. As you do, praise God and thank him for your life.

Rest well because tomorrow is Lamb Selection Day.
